Choosing a Family Restaurant in East Riyadh
Seating, timing, portion sizes and the practical things that make a restaurant work for families.
Eating out as a family has a different set of requirements than eating out as a couple, and most restaurant guides ignore all of them.
Seating comes first
Families need tables that can be pushed together, seating with backs for children, and enough space between tables that a pram or a high chair does not block a walkway. A dining room that looks elegant and empty at 6pm can be unworkable at 9pm.
Timing
Kitchens run at different speeds through the evening. If you are eating with young children, the hour before the main rush is almost always better — food comes out faster, the room is quieter, and staff have time to help.
Portions and sharing
Look for menus built around sharing. Family platters and full karahi portions exist so that one order feeds several people, which is both cheaper and more practical than ordering individually and discovering half of it goes uneaten.
Ask about heat
Almost every Pakistani dish can be adjusted. Any kitchen worth eating in will make a mild version for children without complaint — but you have to ask when you order, not when the food arrives.
Come taste the difference
Reserve a table in An Nasim Ash Sharqi, or order online for pickup and delivery.
